When an a good IPA becomes a great IPA it makes The Chop! Needless to say Hop Nation Brewing Co. have created a beer that sets the standard.
The Good: Not even kidding when you end up with two out of three of your favourite hop varieties in the same brew, you know you will not be disappointed. And disappointed I was not! Citra and Mosaic give off a very aromatic smell, hints of grapefruit very powerful and spices that I am quite able to pick up. Even the taste is very subtle and allows you to drink this quite easily (despite having a 7% alcohol to volume ratio). Gotta say it is an all round package for this beer.
The Bad: It’s a real struggle to pick out something that I don’t like about this beer. It is strong without being too overpowering. I mean Mosaic can be very strong in some brews and is an acquired taste, but this is very much a clean and very laid back drink that I found quite easy to down.
Enjoyment: For a full strength IPA The Chop is a very light beer (don’t get me wrong you definitely feel the effects by the time you finish the can). It is so easy to drink that it is scary. But all that aside it is a genuinely great beer that any fan of an IPA will adore and be looking to buy more. Definitely one that will make it to my coveted Beer Fridge on a regular basis.
