The American Red is a beer that will not disappoint, washing warm rich spices over your tongue with every mouthful.
The Good: So I think this is the first Red Ale that I have officially reviewed on Suburban Brewing and I gotta say how refreshing it is indeed to try something that has such a sweet smell yet adding a little spice. In fact I was so excited to try this I poured it immediately in a glass to get a real good whiff and check out the reddish caramel colour that is significant in a good Red Ale. Needless to say this beer did not disappoint. It’s flavours were subtle to start with, really capturing hints of what I can only assume are Amarillo Hops with notes of roasted grain. It is a far more savoury bodied drink that any beer lover could enjoy.
The Bad: Look I gotta say I genuinely enjoyed this beer, it is a very subtle flavour and not too overpowering. I think the only bad thing I could say is that these guys are not getting the recognition that they deserve, this needs to be in EVERY bottleshop in Australia!
Enjoyment: It lives up to its name, I certainly got a buzz just from one bottle. It is a very flavoursome beer that I would 100% be stocking up in my Beer Garden (full feature coming soon). It is the sort of beer that even if you are not a big drinker you could drink this over a steak dinner or sitting with mates and have a good session. I mean I drank this and it immediately brought me back to a time when I was at New Orleans at this micro brewery drinking a really nice American Red Ale and I remember vividly looking up at the copper fermenters and being like “This is Life”, so despite sitting at my very sad yet compact desk I was able to escape, even if it was short lived. Needless to say I loved this beer.
