A very tropical summer beer really does pack a punch to your tastebuds as we head into Summer.
The Good: The scent of a fresh mango hit my nostrils almost immediately upon opening this can, which from my perspective is a great thing since I absolutely adore Mangos. For a sour beer it is something that is most definitely uplifted with the taste of Mango and a very subtle after taste of either citrus or passionfruit (it was hard to choose since each taste I was looking for a particular flavour and kept picking up hints of lemon or orange and then passionfruit… I think my palette needs a cleanse…).
The Bad: I have grown quite fond of Hop Nation and the varieties of beer that they are producing. This one was no exception. If I had to be picky (and I will for the purposes of a non biased review), the beer does have salty hints, which at first was rather pleasant and then became something quite overpowering as I progressed through the beer.
Enjoyment: It is a nice beer that was absolutely perfect for a spring day, bathed in the warm golden sunshine of my backyard (aka The Suburban Brewing Beer Garden). This beer went down far too easily and was a welcomed indulgence after a very long week at work. Overall though it is not an everyday beer, like you won’t be able to consistently and consecutively drink this because the sourness is somewhat strong and with that saltiness it does test your tastebuds. So if you want to try a sour beer but not sure of what to get, then this is the perfect stater. If however you are a seasoned vet of sour beers then this will certainly please your palette.
