Looking for a touch of class and sophistication in your next beer, why not give this charming saison a go.
The Good: Fruity sour notes, pours a pale straw colour with a decent head. Quite a nice tart finish on this beer. Deceivingly strong for such a delicate tasting brew, this is a hefty 6% ABV. I like that it’s unfiltered. All the beers I brew are unfiltered also, maybe it’s that pesky old home brewers bias showing its head again.
The Bad: Nothing that I’d put in the bad category personally, other than to say if you’re new to the style, it’ll likely overwhelm. I’ve found over the last 12 months I’ve started to develop a taste for sour/farmhouse beers, but I still remember the first time I tried one...
Enjoyment: Sitting down to a night of study was made that little bit easier with a bottle of this chevalier saison. I could go a second one, but at 6% I don’t want to over do it. Seemingly this drop has been around from bridge road for quite a while, but this was my maiden voyage, and I’m quite pleasantly surprised at how well it’s going down. Would definitely go this one again, I reckon it’d be good to take along to a dinner party, or to try with your more advanced beer drinking buds.
